Community Empowerment to Improve Food Quality and Presentation To Increase Marketing at the Jambangan Culinary Center Surabaya
Jambangan Culinary Center is one of Surabaya's culinary centers with significant potential to support the local economy. However, recently, the area has experienced a decline in visitor numbers due to a lack of menu innovation, inconsistent taste, and changes in consumer behavior toward digital delivery services.
Recognizing this situation, a team of students from Hang Tuah University, through the Community Partnership Program (PKM), initiated an empowerment program for Jambangan SWK vendors. This program focused on hygienic and innovative cooking training with the Persit women's community, assistance with hygiene and food safety from the Surabaya Health Office, and strengthening business management and digital marketing.
The program was implemented in stages over three months. In the initial phase, vendors were equipped with an understanding of hygiene standards, sanitation, and improving food taste. Subsequent phases focused on business management, simple financial record keeping, and the use of social media and online ordering platforms such as GoFood and GrabFood. The program concluded with a business simulation, evaluation, and the awarding of certificates to participants.
Through this program, it is hoped that SWK Jambangan traders will be able to improve product quality, expand market reach, and build SWK's image as a clean, attractive, and competitive culinary destination in Surabaya City.
